The long illustrious history of Clifton Nurseries has seen many changes over time, including in the 21st century!

In 2016 Gavin Jones Ltd bought and managed Clifton Nurseries before new independent owners and directors took over in 2017. At that time, the Clifton Nurseries brand was expanded with the addition of a second garden centre on Woburn Hill just outside Weybridge in Surrey.

In Spring 2025, following a company restructure, the decision was made to close the Surrey site and focus the garden centre side of the business on the historic flagship site in Maida Vale – as well as continuing to focus on garden design, landscaping and maintenance in London, Surrey and the surrounding areas.

We would like to thank everybody who has contributed to our time at Woburn Hill, especially our many very supportive customers, both retail and trade. We’d also like to thank and wish all the best to the other tenants who were based on the site with us and a special thanks to Vita Rosa café for looking after us all so well!

For those of you who haven’t yet visited our London site, we encourage you to visit our beautiful historic site in Maida Vale, London’s oldest and most beautiful garden centre. Any Clifton Nurseries gift vouchers purchased at our Surrey branch remain valid and can be used at our London garden centre.

Please note that our design, landscaping and maintenance teams continue to operate as usual in Surrey, London and the surrounding areas and look forward to being able to help you with any garden projects.

Our trade scheme continues to operate from our London nursery.
